Beyond the Chair - The Art of the Consultation

You know, I have the most amazing patients. Each new personality and face that sits in my chair is a new puzzle and a blessing all at once. I want to address the Art of the Consultation. We are trained as injectors to study your face, understand your underlying anatomy, and suggest solutions that are best suited for your specific needs. These things, of course, are very important. What I believe we also need to be trained for is the art of listening and connecting. It is in this art of connection that we do our most meaningful work. A good injector can address the peaks and valleys of your facial topography, but to take the time to follow your patient through their peaks and valleys of life is another gift. Some folks have that talent, some don't. I am constantly reminded through meaningful consultations that without this emotional connection of souls, the product is left lack-luster. The injector that takes the time to LISTEN is the provider that keeps their patients returning time after time. To ask meaningful questions of where a patient is at in their life, where their emotional state is and what is really heavy on his or her heart is what makes the time in the chair so worthwhile. And sadly, time is the one commodity that we have the least of. We (both patients and professionals) have jam packed our time with so many things, we don't give ourselves permission to breathe, nonetheless address the most immediate health issue. Most of us live our daily lives this way. That is why is it is so important to take the time and really connect with each other. This journey of beauty and wellness is not only the Botox or fillers that are injected, but the infusion of kindness, support, love, patience, insight, education and inspiration that we can share at each appointment. This is what patients remember most when they leave our chair - the connection. For those patients reading this blog, you are so very important to me. I love the time we spend - talking, laughing and of course attending to your skin stories. Thanks for being loyal and spending time Beyond the Chair.
