"How to Achieve Natural-Looking Lips: Avoiding the 'Duck Lips' Phenomenon"

Lip Blog 5/18/24

I would like to start out by dispelling the notion that lip injections always make your lips look "overdone" or "fake". My 68 y/o patient had lost the natural plump in her lips resulting in making her look dehydrated and aged. Although she had been in the beauty industry as an esthetician for over 30 years, she was still nervous about lip injections. She battled with colored lip line tattooing that had turned grey over the years. She really desired a more youthful, healthy look without losing her own unique aesthetic appearance.

Our relationship started with a connection - a comprehensive consultation that answered all of her questions and put us both on the same page as to what she desired her outcome to be. Lips can be tricky and all the magic isn't always accomplished in one sitting; especially if the lips are petite. Following her small touch up, I think that the result was beautiful and natural. My patient was relieved that she didn't end up with the dreaded "duck" lips that can happen so often when your lips are petite. It was a win-win for everyone. She now has a trusted injector who can deliver the outcome she wanted. And I have a great patient that I helped feel younger and refreshed!

See her progress below: From initial treatment to 4 weeks out for final adjustment.
